First Longboard Coaching weekend of 2010 goes down a real treat!
Sunday, May 9th, 2010Well, what a lucky spell of waves for our first longboard coaching workshop this weekend! For 2 day’s we’ve been working hard to improve and enhance the surfing skills of our Longboarding students who attended this weekends course.
All in all, we were pretty impressed by their effort and achievements during their time with us. It’s always a great weekend for staff and students alike. Our team get to put some of their higher level coaching skills into practice, and the students see the benefits of personal tuition and local knowledge!
We were blessed with some offshore conditions, and a couple foot of swell. The swell increased throughout the day on Saturday and we had some larger waves by the afternoon, but that didn’t put the crew off! We practised some techniques, including better paddling, take offs and directional controls to enhance their length of ride and control of their boards.
Sunday saw a few surfed out students, but they were all super keen! After a morning session at Watergate with some lovely peeling waves, Ashleigh and Steve decided over a lunchtime hot chocolate to take the crew on a little adventure as a reward for their efforts over the weekend. We packed up some SurfTech demo boards for the gang to try out, courtesy of Rob at The Shop On The Beach at Watergate and headed for a little known spot down the coast. Conditions were perfect, and it was just us out. One of those really magical little surfs! For the students, the tiredness soon kicked in , but we had a great afternoon of surfing fun and good times.
Thanks to everyone who attended this weekend! Hopefully we’ll see you out in the lineup soon!
